The Miriam Learning Center is a program designed for students ages 4 through 18 who have average to above average cognitive ability, but require support because of difficulties related to speech, listening, reading, math, sensory or motor skills as well as other specific challenges. They may be receiving some special education service or none at all. Housed in Miriam School, MLC brings together a full range of comprehensive services in a single location.

POSITION: Paraprofessional

STATUS: Part-Time, As Needed

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Behavioral Services


  • Bachelor's degree from accredited school in a related field
  • Two years' experience working with children with special needs and behavior disorders preferred
  • Ability to work as a member of an educational team in a fast-paced school setting



The Paraprofessional works one on one or in small groups within the classroom setting to provide immediate support and reinforcement to students struggling to make it successfully through the school day due to behavioral issues.


  1. To provide behavioral support to students one on one or in small groups to encourage positive behaviors.
  2. Collect data daily to determine appropriateness of attempted interventions.
  3. To facilitate interventions outlined in FBA or treatment plan of student.
  4. Work collaboratively with student's educational team.
  5. To submit billing in a timely manner.
  6. Any other duties as specified by the supervisor
