Job Description

Miriam Learning Center provides special education support services to children who attend St. Louis charter schools, public, parochial and private schools. Yearly, over 1100 children receive special education support from Miriam at their school, at our Center located at Miriam School in Webster Groves, or in the child's home or community library.

POSITION:  PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL EVALUATOR

*ANTICIPATED START DATE: 7/1/18

STATUS: PART-TIME, AS NEEDED, DAY HOURS, AND AVAILABILILTY OF A MINIMUM OF TWO FULL DAYS PER WEEK

POSITION INCLUDES TESTING IN ST. LOUIS CITY CHARTER SCHOOLS, PRIVATE EVALUATIONS, AND PUBLIC SCHOOLS OUTSIDE OF ST. LOUIS COUNTY (preschool, elementary, junior, and high school).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Missouri Certified School Psychological Examiner or School Psychologist
  • Minimum three years of experience evaluating students in a school setting.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and DSM-V is necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and writing skills.

REPORTS TO:  MLC TEACHER SUPERVISOR

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attend RED meetings if requested by school.
  2. Review RED, attendance records, and other student data.
  3. Based upon existing data, determine appropriate tests to administer in areas indicated by school.
  4. Conduct interviews with parents and teachers to obtain background information.
  5. Administer appropriate tests indicated by the RED at the school.
  6. Distribute, collect, and score S/E/B rating scales completed by parents and/or school staff.
  7. Keep the school updated on any preliminary concerns with areas identified on the RED that may need further testing and/or major S/E/B concerns.
  8. Conduct student observations as school when indicated.
  9. Score and write up diagnostic findings.
  10. Make instructional and accommodation recommendations as a part of the report.
  11. Enter findings into computerized school data programs when applicable.
  12. Keep SPED coordinator updated on findings prior to eligibility meeting.
  13. Interpret tests results for possible educational diagnosis.
  14. Attend and chair eligibility conferences.
  15. Present eligibility criteria to team in a rule in and rule out format for consideration.
  16. Present draft report data findings in meeting.
  17. Guides team to make a decision concerning eligibility and/or when applicable, final educational diagnosis.
  18. Finalizes the report in written form or in the electronic data program at the school.
  19. May participate in care team or IEP meetings when requested by school.
  20. To submit billing in a timely manner.
  21. Other duties as assigned by the coordinator.
