TITLE OF POSITION:           Substitute Special Education Teacher at Miriam School

QUALIFICATIONS:              Substitute Teacher Certificate or area of special education and classroom leadership experience

REPORTS TO:                      Head of School 

POSITION SUMMARY:         In the absence of the Special Education Teacher, the substitute is responsible for providing instruction and managing the learning environment according to the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher.

STATUS:                              As needed

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Review with the Head of School the plans and schedules to be adhered to during the school day
  •  Follow the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher
  •  Maintain the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned
  •  Interact in a professional manner with students and parents
  •  Encourage, monitor, and promote student progress
  •  Maintain student confidentiality
  •  Adhere to all procedures, guidelines, and policies followed by regular teachers in line with recommended teaching procedure
  •  Perform other duties as assigned
