Title: Special Education Teachers for Lower, Middle, and High School positions for upcoming 2023 to 2024 school year

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

The Special Education Teacher plans and administers the instructional program and classroom operation in compliance with guidelines and regulations determined by the administration, Board of Directors, state and federal agencies.

Essential Functions

  • Provides specialized instruction based upon Individual Learning Plan goals and individual needs
  • Recognizes the special needs of students with learning challenges and makes appropriate accommodations as needed
  • Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration
  • Conducts, develops, and informs students of reasonable rules concerning classroom procedures and behavior and maintains a safe and orderly classroom environment
  • Builds collaborative relationships with parents and students through regular communication and is available to students and parents for education-related purposes, e.g. open house, conferences, extra-curricular activities
  • Administer medication according to school guidelines

Required Education/License/Certification(s) and Experience

  • Certified in LD, ED, Cross Categorical, or other areas of exceptional children
  • Experience with co-teaching model
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team
  • Embraces project-based learning
  • Successful experience teaching small groups of students
  • Ability to monitor student progress through data

Working Conditions

  • Full time position
  • 10-month contract
  • Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8AM to 4PM with additional hours as needed

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
