Autonomy and Support
The Miriam Learning Center is a program designed for students ages 4 through 18 who have average to above average cognitive ability, but require support because of difficulties related to speech, listening, reading, math, sensory or motor skills as well as other specific challenges. They may be receiving some special education service or none at all. Housed in Miriam School, MLC brings together a full range of comprehensive services in a single location.
POSITION: LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER or PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR
STATUS: Part-time/PRN two day minimum, up to 29 hours
$46 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree from accredited school
- Licensed or provisionally licensed in the state of Missouri (LCSW, LMSW, LPC, PLPC)
- Experience in assessing the psychological and educational needs of children and/or adolescents with learning disabilities, developing treatment plans, and delivering treatment services
REPORTS TO: Clinical Supervisor, Miriam Learning Center
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Licensed Clinical Social Worker/ Counselor evaluates the psycho-social needs of children and adolescents and makes appropriate recommendations to improve functioning at school, home, and in the community. May also run psycho-educational groups and provide individual, group and/or family counseling. Settings for work duties include on-site at the Learning Center, community schools and day care centers, and in-home counseling opportunities as they arise. Hours are flexible to accommodate other commitments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To provide a comprehensive and professional assessment of each child's psycho-social issues.
- To make appropriate recommendations based upon assessment results.
- To complete assessment reports in a professional and timely manner.
- To determine an appropriate treatment pathway for a child/family.
- To maintain contact with other professionals at the Center, in the school, and with the family to ensure coordinated treatment efforts.
- To submit notes and billing in a timely manner.
- To refer the child and/or family for community services as needed.
- To plan and facilitate psycho-educational groups.
- To provide individual, group and/or family counseling.
- Any other duties as specified by the supervisor.
